Bel Aire Police Reserve Officers are fully commissioned, armed and uniformed, volunteer police officers. The Police Reserve Officer Program consists of community members, such as yourself, who want to volunteer as a Police Officer.  These officers supplement the full-time officers in a variety of duties throughout the Department primarily the Patrol Division and Court Services.  Most Reserve Officers work with officers, but others can qualify to patrol on their own.  This program is ideal for individuals who have an established career and do not wish to make a complete transition to full-time Police Officer.  Reserve Officers can enjoy the best of both worlds; maintain their chosen career while helping to monitor the City of Bel Aire.

The application process is identical in every way to the full-time, paid officers’ application. Candidates for the Reserve Program must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Kansas Driver’s license by time of hire. Candidates must also be a Kansas resident, a U.S citizen and a GED certified/high school graduate. Applicants are required to pass a written and physical test, a background investigation and an oral interview.  Applications for Part-time Police Reserve Officers are accepted on an ongoing basis.
